WHAT'S NEW ON THE THOMPSON RIVER...

I'M PRETTY SURE THAT YOU COULD WALK ACROSS THE RIVER AT FANTASY ISLAND.  If I could see some snow in them thar hills it wouldn't be so scary.  

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND SPENCES BRIDGE...

Well, it's the time of year that we're normally digging out of our cozy, festive-filled homes to grudgingly get back into the swing of whatever routine we follow the rest of the year. But this uncharacteristically warm January has me feeling a little off kilter and I'm having a hard time buckling down like I usually do by now.  That is not a complaint from me - I'm not an organizer of the Olympics or a farmer hoping his cherries don't start to blossom - but if I were, I'd be feeling a little nervous with this chain of events!  I suppose we'd be delusional to think that the temperatures are going to stay balmy like this for the rest of what we call winter up here in Canada; I'll probably be eating my words when we get hit with more cold stuff again.  We're waiting for all those Olympic tourists that everyone's talking about.  I suppose that with this weather, we may expect a few more folks mosying up through the Canyon than might ordinarily passed by and we're ready!  

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that John & I are the proud new owners of the Motel next door and are quite excited about the project we have ahead of us.  It will open as a work-in-progress as soon as we can in the spring.  Stay tooned - the mind boggles what we may be up to over there!

PUB NEWS

Meanwhile, back at the Cabin, we're enjoying some winter hours until traffic picks up a little.  It's supposed to be our 'catch-up' time, but mostly we seem to be catching up on R and R.  Weekdays we open at 3:00 pm and close at 11:00 pm; and Saturdays and Sundays we open from noon until 11:00 pm. 

We've started our Pool 4 Points third session back up after a Christmas break, and that was on Friday, January 15th.  It's not too late to be in the running for the top 8 point winner's Grand Finale to be held on March 12th.  That gives you three tourneys to pump up your points (Friday, Jan. 29th, Feb. 12th, and Feb. 26th).  But besides cheering on your favourite player, and watching some pretty great pool, the prizes that anyone can win from the Balloon Raffle always make it more fun for spectators, too!

I have my karaoke machine out in a handy spot because I keep thinking I'll turn it on and practice some time if it's easily available.  That means it probably wouldn't be too hard to pressure me into getting something happening, so c'mon by and see what we can drum up!  See you soon at the Cabin down the road.

Here's a wee update of where we're at in the points department - as you can see, it's not very hard to accumulate points because people miss a lot of games here and there and still manage to be in the top 10.
